Archos has said that the 8GB 80 Titanium tablet will be available with Carphone Warehouse and that the 16GB 80 Titanium will be exclusive to Carphone Warehouse. No word as to when, or if this exclusivity on the 16GB model will expire, but at this time — that is where the purchase will have to be made. Archos 116 Platinum

Archos is releasing a 11.6-inch tablet for $349. Do note that this is laptop size screen, as the iPad screen is only 9.7-inch. So, for the price, it is quite reasonable. The full specs, as reported by ZDNET:

In addition to that 8-inch 80 Platinum for $199 and the ultra-high-res 97 Platinum for $299, Archos has also announced the 116 Platinum, which features a massive 11.6-inch IPS screen. At 1,920x1,080 (or full 1080p HD), its resolution isn't as high as the 2,048x1,536 97 Platinum, but the size is thus far unique among Android tablets. (Vizio announced an 11.6-inch Windows 8-based tablet at CES in January, though its pricing and release date aren't yet known.)
Like the other Platinum tablets, the 116 model will come with a quad-core CPU, eight-core GPU, 2GB of RAM, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Don't expect blazing performance at the aggressive price point, which will be $349 when the 116 is release in April, but the size is the thing with this tablet.

It is quite a good specs, so for the price, it is a cheap good tablet PC. Worthy of your consideration. Especially if size matters!

Archos $119 70 Titanium

During CES 2013, Archos released its 70 Titanium tablet. It is set to be released in February 2013 for a $119 price. What does the specs looked like on paper ? Take a look at CNET coverage of the tablet :

Although Archos has yet to post a product page (which is why there's no link), I saw the 70 Titanium at CES, and just received a preliminary spec sheet from a company rep. I'd say its main competition is the original Kindle Fire, which Amazon currently sells for $159.
For $40 less, the 70 Titanium offers a 1,024x600-pixel IPS display (same as the Fire), 8GB of storage (ditto), a microSD slot (something the Fire lacks), and a front camera (ditto again). It runs on a 1.6GHz dual-core processor with quad-core graphics and 1GB of RAM. There's an HDMI output and Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) behind the scenes. Alas, no Bluetooth.
The Archos tablet measures 0.34 inch thick and weighs 0.62 pound, so it's both thinner and lighter than the Kindle Fire. Plus, it has a chrome back and white front, which may appeal to those who don't like the Fire's fingerprint-attracting all-black facade.

Archos 80 Titanium contender for Apple Mini

The iPad Mini is Apple's answer to the growing 7-inch tablet PC market. Now, Archos 80 Titanium is challenging the iPad Mini. According to CNET :

The tablet houses a 1.6GHz dual-core processor, a quad-core graphics processor, and 1GB of RAM. It sports a stylish aluminum back casing and a 1,024x768-pixel resolution IPS screen.
The 80 Titanium also comes with 8GB of internal storage with a microSD expansion slot, a 0.3-megapixel front camera, and 2-megapixel rear camera. It also has Micro-USB and Mini-HDMI ports.
The Archos 8-inch tablet will possibly compete against the iPad Mini. Its stylish, lightweight design and 1,024x768-pixel-resolution IPS screen are comparable with the iPad Mini's, but the 80 Titanium costs considerably less.
The price will be $169, with availability this April. The tablet will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. So it is not too far behind the leading 4.2.1 Jelly Bean.

Archos Titanium and Platinum series from CES 2013

During CES 2013, Archos introduces its Titanium and Platinum tablets. Can Archos brings together cheap and good in a tablet PC ? Check out K.T. Bradford coverage of those tablets over at Digital Trends :

Overall, the entire Titanium family looks solid. The two largest tablets felt the best in our hands. We like how light all of them are and the designs that make them comfortable to hold, even over long periods. All of them are Google certified and will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with no skin. The 70 and 101 Titaniums will be in direct competition with Google’s two Nexus tablets at a significantly lower price. It will be interesting to see if Android lovers will make a choice solely based on price.
If you like the look of the Titanium series but want tablets with more power, step up to the Platinum series. Both of these tablets boast aluminum cases and solid construction, no creaks or bending. Aside from the aluminum design, the Platinum tablets are about the same as the Titanium on the outside. Neither tablet is significantly heavier and the design is still comfortable and holdable. They have the same ports, same IPS displays, same resolutions (1024 x 768 on the 8-inch, 2048 x 1536 on the 9.7-inch). The big difference is inside. Platinum tablets have quad-core chips and 2GB of RAM, so performance should be even better.

Two budget alternatives from CES 2013

Acer and Archos are two manufacturers who are consistenly building cheap good tablet PC. Their products are affordable but offers decent specifications. From CES 2013, here are two tablet you may consider from Acer and Archos.
The two devices - the Archos Titanium 70 and the Acer B1-A71 - both cost the same, £99, and both run Android Jelly Bean, the latest version of Google's mobile operating system.
The Archos sports a dual core 1.6Ghz processor, with quad core GPU, and 8GB of storage that's expandable to 64GB with a MicroSD card. The Acer features a 1.2Ghz processor, with 8GB of storage expandable to 32GB with the right SD card.
It's fair to say that neither of the tablets is particularly impressive in the numbers department, and while the price point is pretty low - around $130 - you can't help but think it might be worth shelling out an extra $50 to get a Nexus 7 instead.

Both are decent tablets with affordable price. Definitely worth buying.

Announcing Archos 80 Cobalt

Archos is announcing a new tablet, called Cobalt. It is going to be the same size as Apple iPad Mini. With 1024x768 display resolution and 8-inch screen. The OS will come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, dual-core processor and 8GB of internal storage which will be expandable. Ubergizmo speculates that the price is going to be under $200 to remain competitive.

There’s no pricing details yet–the deevice was announced on Archos’ Facebook page–but I highly suspect that it’s going to be under $200, because it won’t be able to compete with Google and Amazon with these specs at a higher price.
