ME172V is Asus MemoPad

The rumored ME172V finally was shown to the public during CES 2013 as Asus MemoPad. It is a 7-inch tablet running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The price ? $149, not $99 as rumored. But it is still a great price. Here are the specs :

The MeMO Pad’s key features include a 1024 x 600, 350-nit screen 7-inch screen with 10-point multi-touch, a single-core 1-GHz VIA WM8950 CPU, 1GB of RAM, 8 or 16GB of storage, 802.11n Wi-Fi, a 1-MP front-facing webcam and a microSD card slot that lets you expand the storage up to 32GB. The tablet comes preloaded with a number of ASUS applications, including MyPainter for image capture, MyBitCast for memo taking and 5GB of free cloud storage from ASUS WebStorage.

The company plans to make this tablet available in three colour options - Sugar White, Titanium Grey and Cherry Pink. It will also have apps such as SuperNote Lite, ASUS WebStorage, ASUS WebStorage Online Office, ASUS Studio, BuddyBuzz, MyPainter and MyBitCast pre-installed on it.

$99 Nexus tablet leak

Now, there is a photo over at Picasa showcasing the camera picture taken from the rumored ME172V 7-inch tablet. The ME172V is made by Asus and is expected to be priced at $99. The magic price for Android tablet.

It looks like the first photos taken with this $99 Asus device (model number ME172V) have hit Picasa already, and while EXIF data could be faked, we will point out the fact that we’ve seen plenty of unofficial device confirmations coming from Google’s image-sharing service so far this year. 

The posted images have a resolution of 1280 x 720 and come from an “Asus Asus” Picasa account. Is it all a coincidence that we’re seeing them hit the web in late December or is Asus preparing its CES 2013 attack?
